The present church of St Stephen in Yeşilköy was rebuilt from the foundations in 1845 and restored in 1995. It is one of three churches in Yeşilköy dedicated to St Stephen the Protomartyr — Orthodox, Catholic and Armenian — all three of which celebrate their feast on 27 December. Since 2022 the feast of St Cyril I Loukaris, Patriarch of Constantinople, has been held at the church every year on 27 June; in 2025 a hierarchical Divine Liturgy was celebrated on that day.
