About the association

ETH.KO. — «Εθελοντές για την Κωνσταντινούπολη», Voluntaries for Constantinople — is a non-profit association based in Athens. It was founded in 2021.

The association is independent. It does not represent the community institutions it presents, the communities or the Ecumenical Patriarchate; it presents them on the basis of published sources, which are listed on every page.

Statutory purposes

The English text below is a translation for information. The Greek text of the statutes is the binding one.

Under article 2 of the statutes, the purposes of the association are:

1. Contributing to the preservation of the Greek culture of Constantinople and of the East.
2. Contributing to the continued presence and the well-being of the Greeks of Constantinople in their homeland.
3. Contributing to the preservation of the historical records of Hellenism.
4. Social solidarity with all fellow human beings in need, within and outside Constantinople.
5. Passing on the cultural and civilisational traditions of Hellenism to new generations.

Means

Under article 3 of the statutes, the association pursues its purposes by every lawful means and in particular:

1. By offering volunteer work.
2. By preparing studies and carrying out research on Hellenism.
3. By organising volunteer missions to offer voluntary service in Constantinople and elsewhere.
4. By cooperating with associations of Constantinople and with Greek charitable institutions in Constantinople.
5. By organising seminars, lectures and training courses.
6. By studying and documenting historical archives.
7. By organising events of an educational and recreational nature.
