The church is built on Byzantine foundations; beneath it survives a round martyrion of the 4th or 5th century. In 1593 and 1604 it is recorded under the name Saint Polykarpos, which it kept until the late 18th century; in 1785 a holy spring of Saint Menas is mentioned for the first time, and the church later took its name from it. It burned in 1782 and 1792, and around 1830 it burned or collapsed again. The present church was built in 1833.
It is a rectangular three-aisled basilica, about 20 × 13 metres, with a side entrance, a bell tower and a holy spring (agiasma) in the narthex. The church was burned during the events of September 1955 and was repaired in 1963.
