The foundation comprises three sites of the Tatavla community: the churches of Saint Demetrius and Saint Athanasius and the cemetery of Saint Eleftherios. Saint Demetrius is the oldest church of the quarter: it already existed in the late 16th century, was rebuilt from the foundations in 1726 and was the community’s only parish church until the mid-19th century. Its courtyard contains a cemetery that was used until 1865. The church of Saint Athanasius was built in 1855, and the community cemetery of Saint Eleftherios was established in 1880.

The three-storey building of the Central School, opposite Saint Demetrius, was inaugurated on 31 May 1887, while a girls’ school operated from 1859 to 1937.
