The church of the Dormition of the Virgin is the parish church of the Orthodox community of Bozcaada (Tenedos) and has served as its place of worship since 1869. The church and its 28-metre bell tower both date from the 19th century.
After a restoration of about two years, funded by private sponsors, the church reopened for worship in July 2025; the reopening service was held on 26 July by the Ecumenical Patriarch.
