The building of the Central Girls’ School stands on Ağahamam Maç Sokak, in the Katip Mustafa Çelebi neighbourhood of Pera (Beyoğlu), and was built in the late 19th century. The school was established so that girls from poor families could receive an education. It closed in 1999.
In 2022 the classrooms still held the school’s teaching equipment, pictures and maps, and the ground floor of the building was a venue of the Istanbul Biennial.
