The church stands in Balat. The first church was built in the 16th century and, after it burned down, was rebuilt in the 18th century. The building was repaired several times in the 19th and 20th centuries, most recently in 1992.
It is a rectangular basilica with a white vaulted wooden ceiling bearing an image of Christ. Inside the church is the holy spring (ayazma) of Saint Menas. The church celebrates its feast on 15 August, the Dormition of the Theotokos.
